These terms govern your use of CouncilAI, a desktop application that runs AI models locally on your device. By downloading or using CouncilAI you agree to the terms below.
CouncilAI is software that bundles the Ollama runtime and downloads open-weight AI models to your own device. All AI processing happens locally on your hardware — CouncilAI does not operate any servers that process your conversations.
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive license to install and use CouncilAI on devices you own or control, subject to payment of the applicable beta price. This license does not permit redistribution, resale, or sublicensing of CouncilAI itself without permission.
CouncilAI bundles or downloads several third-party AI models and open-source components, each of which is governed by its own license terms independent of these Terms of Service:
Full attribution and license text for each component is included in the NOTICE.txt file distributed with the application.
Your use of these models through CouncilAI is subject to each model's respective license and acceptable use policy, in addition to these Terms.
CouncilAI is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. CouncilAI is currently in beta and may contain bugs, produce inaccurate or incomplete responses, or behave unexpectedly. AI-generated content should not be relied upon for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CouncilAI and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the software, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption.
CouncilAI does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on
external servers. All conversations, settings, and session data are
stored locally on your device at %LOCALAPPDATA%\CouncilAI\.

CouncilAI is currently distributed as beta software. Features, pricing, and functionality may change before the full release. Beta purchasers retain their purchase price permanently and will not be charged again for the full release.
Refund requests are handled through Gumroad's standard refund process. Contact hello@councilai.ca with any issues before requesting a refund — most problems can be resolved directly.
These terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of CouncilAI after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
